Amy Ross Arguedas is a Research Fellow at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, University of Oxford, focusing on media trust, news leadership, and digital platforms. She holds a Ph.D. in Media, Technology, and Society from Northwestern University (2020), analyzing medical information circulation across media and clinical contexts. Her work bridges media studies, medical sociology, and gender studies. Prior to academia, she worked as a journalist at Costa Rican newspaper La Nación and as managing editor of Qualitative Sociology.
Her research explores how audiences perceive trust in news, particularly on digital platforms, and the role of newsroom diversity in fostering credibility. Key publications include analyses of gender and racial representation in news leadership (2023–2025), strategies to rebuild trust in journalism across four countries, and the impact of partisan news on polarization in Brazil. She co-authored the influential 2023 report Strategies for Building Trust in News: What the Public Say They Want Across Four Countries.
