Beáta Huszka is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies in the Law Faculty of the University of Oxford, focusing on human rights and legal mobilization in Eastern Europe. She holds a Ph.D. in International Relations from Central European University (2010) and previously served as an Associate Professor at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) in Budapest. Her research examines minority rights litigation, EU enlargement impacts on human rights, and media freedom in Central-Eastern Europe and the Balkans.
Her scholarly work investigates legal mobilization patterns among minorities, human rights conditionality in EU accession processes, and post-conflict reconciliation. She maintains regional expertise in Romania, Hungary, and the Western Balkans, with methodologies spanning socio-legal analysis, policy evaluation, and comparative case studies.
Huszka's publications demonstrate consistent focus on the intersection of law, minority rights, and EU integration. Recent articles explore religious property restitution in Romania, language rights advocacy, and democratic backsliding in Serbia. Her research trajectory highlights the decline of media freedom in EU candidate states and the geopolitical implications of territorial disputes in the Balkans.
