Beverly Sheddan is the Chair of the Health & Human Performance Department at Emory & Henry College. She oversees three majors: Human Performance, Health & Physical Education-Teacher Preparation, and Sport Management. Her roles include teaching, supervising student teachers, managing internships, and directing the College’s Lifetime Wellness program.
Educations:
- B.A. in Health and Physical Education, Emory & Henry College
- M.Ed. in Physical Education, East Tennessee State University
Research & Teaching Focus: Beverly specializes in physical education pedagogy, adaptive sports for exceptional children, sport leadership, and wellness initiatives. Her courses include Foundations of Physical Education, Skills & Techniques, and Social and Psychological Dimensions of Sport.
Awards:
- Old Dominion Athletic Conference Coach of the Year (1991–present, awarded three times)
Advising & Administration: Supervises student teachers, coordinates Sport Management internships, and chairs departmental strategic planning. Her career began in 1991 as Women’s Tennis Coach at E&H.
Labs/Teams: Leads the Lifetime Wellness program and previously coached tennis, fostering student-athlete development through mentorship and community engagement.
