Beverley Hill

Dr Beverley Hill is an Associate Professor in Marketing at the Royal Agricultural University (RAU), where she also serves as Programme Leader for the MSc Business Management. Previously, she held academic roles at Swansea University, University of the West of England, Winchester University, and Gloucestershire University. Her disciplinary research focuses on critical marketing, consumer culture, and communication, while her pedagogical work emphasizes developing students’ spoken communication skills through dialogic teaching methods. She employs diverse methodologies including discourse analysis, semiotics, and linguistic ethnography, combining these with marketing and consumer culture theories.

Hill holds a PhD in narrative methods exploring school choice, an MA in Marketing from UWE, and an MA in English Language from Lancaster University. Professional credentials include Chartered Institute of Marketing qualifications and Market Research Society certifications. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and serves on RAU's Academic Quality & Standards Committee and Ethics Committee.

Her recent research trends highlight intersections between consumer behavior and societal contexts, with a focus on oracy in education, food marketing discourses, and crisis communication strategies. Publications span journals like the International Journal of Management Education and Journal of Marketing Management, alongside conference presentations at venues such as ICCAS and the British Food Journal.

Awards include the 'Best Paper in Critical Marketing Track' at the 2012 Academy of Marketing Conference. She actively contributes to academic governance through Editorial Advisory Board roles and peer review for the Journal of Communication Management.
