Bettina Meisdrock is a Researcher and guest research affiliate at the Data Science and Text-based Information Systems (DATEXIS) group at Beuth University of Applied Sciences Berlin. She holds a Bachelor's in Computational Linguistics (University of Tübingen, 2006) and a Master's in Clinical Linguistics (University of Groningen, Netherlands and University of Potsdam, 2008). She is currently pursuing a PhD while working as an application developer specializing in voice user interface systems. Since April 2018, she has also served as a Data Scientist at Daimler Innovation Labs Berlin.
Her research focuses on end-to-end text analysis methods, with contributions to projects like INDREX (in-database text mining), TASTY (interactive entity linking), and IDEL (neural entity linkage). She explores applications in healthcare NLP, including clinical outcome prediction, assertion detection in medical notes, and contextualized document representations for healthcare retrieval systems. Her work also addresses media bias analysis and hate speech detection through projects like NOHATE.
Bettina has been involved in teaching and supervising master’s theses in data science, with past teaching activities spanning multiple semesters at Beuth University. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges academic research with industrial applications, particularly in voice interface design and clinical decision support systems.
