Betsy Parrish is a Professor in the TESOL Program at Hamline University, with over 35 years of experience as an ESL/EFL teacher, teacher educator, writer, and consultant. Her work spans programs such as TEFL, Adult ESL Certificate, ABE Licensure, and MATESOL. She has taught globally, led US State Department Grants, served as a Fulbright Specialist in Vietnam, and co-founded the ABE Teaching and Learning Advancement System (ATLAS) for Minnesota educators.
Her research interests focus on adult education, emphasizing learner-centered, communicative language teaching, academic and career readiness, phonetics, and culturally inclusive practices. She advocates for integrating learners' prior knowledge and cultural experiences into language teaching.
