Betsy Dodgen is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Chemistry Department at Hope College. She teaches General Chemistry 1 and leads Physical Chemistry 1 labs, drawing on her expertise in spectroscopy and physical chemistry.

Her research focuses on advanced spectroscopic techniques to study emission mechanisms of nanomaterials and organic emitters. She has published work on TiO2-PEGDA hydrogels, metal nanoclusters, and thermally activated delayed fluorescence.
She serves as an associate editor and reviewer for the Journal of Emerging Investigators, mentoring young scientists. Her teaching experience includes lab instruction in general and physical chemistry, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
