Bethany Smith is a Lecturer in Physical Education and School Sport and Programme Manager for FdSc Sport Performance and Coaching, BSc (Hons) Sport Performance Top-Up, and a newly developed BSc (Hons) Sports Performance at Hartpury University since November 2020. She holds external roles such as UEFA C Coach Developer (Regional), FA Quality Developer (National), and FA Coach Mentor for Women and Girls (Regional), reflecting her commitment to football education and coaching.
Education:
Bethany holds a BA (Hons) in Sports Coaching and Physical Education from University Marjon Plymouth (2018), a PGCE Secondary Physical Education with PSHE and SEND Enhancement (2019), and an MA in Professional Education Practice (Distinction) from the same institution (2020–2022).
Research Interests:
Her work focuses on teacher education, curriculum design, and pedagogical principles in higher education. She prioritizes data-driven approaches to improve student retention, professional development for educators, and bridging research with practical applications in coaching and teaching. Her research aims to enhance both staff and student experiences through evidence-based strategies.
Collaborations & Projects:
Beth leads five active research projects, including collaborations with the FA, Gloucestershire FA, and schools like The Altus School and Fives Acres High School. Her work emphasizes inclusivity, effective professional development methodologies, and optimizing coaching resources.
