Bethany Shinkins is an Associate Professor in Health Economics at the University of Leeds, affiliated with the School of Medicine. She leads the Test Evaluation Group and serves as Associate Director of the NIHR Leeds In Vitro Diagnostics Co-operative. Her research focuses on economic evaluation of medical tests across diverse clinical areas, including antimicrobial resistance, cancer diagnostics, and chronic disease monitoring.

Her work spans methodological development in diagnostic research and practical applications for improving clinical decision-making. Current projects include ALABAMA (penicillin allergy and antibiotic use), BioPAsSPoRT (renal diagnostics), and CRUK CanTest Collaborative (cancer early detection). She supervises five PhD students and teaches cost-effectiveness modeling through international courses.
