Beth Peterson is an Instructor in the School of Environmental Sustainability at Loyola University Chicago, focusing on High School Dual Credit programs. She concurrently teaches Biology Honors, AP Biology, Environmental Science, and AP Environmental Science at Highland Park High School, where she also serves as the head girls’ volleyball coach and assistant girls’ lacrosse coach. Peterson holds an M.E. from the University of Illinois at Chicago (Leadership in Curriculum and Instruction with ESL endorsement) and an M.S.S.E. from Montana State University at Bozeman.
Her professional affiliations include presentations at the Illinois State Teachers Association Conference (2009), National Biology Teachers Association meetings (2010, 2013), and the College Board’s AP Annual Conference (2010, 2011). She has co-authored the AP Test Prep manual for Starr and Taggart’s Biology: Unity and Diversity of Life and participated in the Climate Change Education Project through the Chicago Botanic Garden and NASA’s Climate Change Curriculum.
Peterson emphasizes innovative pedagogy, including integrating literacy in science classrooms and using formative assessments to enhance learning. Her work bridges high school and university education, particularly in environmental and biological sciences.
