Beth Melia-Leigh is a University Teacher in TESOL at the School of English, University of Sheffield. With over 20 years of experience since 2001, she specializes in teaching English to diverse linguistic and cultural groups across Spain, Poland, Italy, Thailand, and the UK, covering General English, Exam Preparation, Business English, English for Academic Purposes (EAP), and English for Specific Purposes (ESP). She joined the University of Sheffield’s English Language Teaching Centre (ELTC) in 2007, transitioning from pre-sessional teaching to teacher education, including roles as Assistant Director for Teacher Training. Since 2016, she has contributed to the MA in Applied Linguistics with TESOL, securing a permanent position in 2022.
Her research focuses on classroom-based reflective practice and the impact of teacher education on pedagogical beliefs and practices, particularly in English Medium Instruction (EMI) contexts. She leads projects exploring how train-the-trainer courses influence novice educators, examining factors shaping their professional development.
- Teaching: Convenes modules on TESOL Practice, English Grammar, Discourse, and TESOL Teacher Education within the MA program.
