Beth Meisinger is an Associate Professor and Director of the MS/PhD Program in the Department of Psychology at the University of Memphis. Her research focuses on reading fluency development, assessment of reading disabilities, and literacy interventions. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia, alongside an M.A. and B.A. from the University of Georgia and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill respectively.
Her research has three primary themes: advancing reading fluency assessment practices, understanding the relationship between oral/silent reading fluency and comprehension, and identifying the transition to silent reading in children. Her work emphasizes evidence-based interventions and has been published in journals like School Psychology Review and Reading Research Quarterly.
Dr. Meisinger’s studies often involve collaborations with students, reflected in co-authored works highlighting student-led projects. She directs the LIGER Lab (Laboratory Investigating Elementary Readers), which explores text-level reading challenges and intervention efficacy. Courses taught include academic and clinical interventions in school psychology, child development, and research methods.
