Dr. Beth A. Livingston is the Ralph L. Sheets Associate Professor in Industrial Relations at the University of Iowa's Tippie College of Business, where she is a faculty member in the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship. She earned her PhD in Management/Organizational Behavior from the University of Florida and previously served on the faculty at Cornell University's School of Industrial and Labor Relations for eight years.

Her research centers on gender, diversity and inclusion, work-family balance, remote work, and well-being. She investigates how stereotypes related to gender and race affect workplace experiences and how organizations can foster belonging and equity. Her work emphasizes evidence-based strategies for addressing discrimination and improving employee well-being through humane HR policies and practices.
Dr. Livingston’s publications span top journals such as the Academy of Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology, and Harvard Business Review. Her recent work explores the gender pay gap, backlash against non-ideal workers, accent bias, and the workplace implications of intimate partner violence. She co-authored the influential book Shared Sisterhood, which was named one of Forbes’ Top 10 Business Books of 2022, advocating for cross-racial solidarity among women in organizations.
Her scientific recognition includes the Public Scholarship Award (2024), Undergraduate Faculty of the Year (2023), and the Faculty Communicating Ideas Award (2023). She is also an editorial board member for Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Organizational Behavior, and Personnel Psychology.

Dr. Livingston has secured external funding, including a CDC/NIOSH grant on supervising remote workers and their well-being. She has advised on executive education and consulted for major organizations such as Accenture, John Deere, Yves Saint Laurent Beauty, and Allsteel. She is actively involved in speaking engagements and leadership programs, including serving as Faculty Director of the Dore-Tippie Women's Leadership Program (2021–2025).
She is a member of the Work & Family Researchers Network, Academy of Management, and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. Her research has been featured in The New York Times, NPR, and Harvard Business Review, marking her as a leading voice in the future of work and inclusive leadership.
