معرفی
Bertrand Noblet is an Associate Professor in Education Sciences at the Institute of Teaching and Education (INSPÉ) of the University of Clermont Auvergne, France. He specializes in history education with a focus on gender representation in textbooks, particularly during the Francoist period in Spain. Since 2020, he has served as Co-Head of the "History-Geography" course for the Master MEEF program at INSPÉ.
His research interests span across History Education, Gender Studies, Masculinity Studies, Textbook Analysis, Francoism, Spanish History, and Intersectionality. Noblet's work critically examines how history textbooks construct gender identities, with particular attention to masculine models and values in Spanish educational materials from 1931 to 1982. His research reveals how political regimes, particularly Franco's dictatorship, influence the representation of gender in educational materials, while also showing how certain long-standing representations persist despite official ideological pressures.
Noblet's scholarly contributions demonstrate a consistent focus on the intersection of gender, education, and political power. His publications reveal a methodological approach that combines quantitative text analysis with qualitative historical interpretation. A recurring theme across his work is the tension between official state-promoted gender models and more enduring cultural representations that continue to shape educational materials.
Among his notable achievements, Noblet received the 2020 Prize from Spanish University Presses for the best published work in legal and social sciences for his book "Virilidad nacional." This recognition highlights the significance of his contributions to understanding gender construction in historical educational contexts.
Noblet maintains an active research profile with publications spanning multiple languages (French, Spanish, and English), reflecting the international significance of his work. His research contributes to broader scholarly conversations about the relationship between education, political power, and identity construction, with particular relevance for understanding how historical narratives shape contemporary understandings of gender.
