Professor Bernhard Pichl is a faculty member at the University of Music Würzburg, specializing in Jazz Piano and Jazz History. He has been teaching at the Würzburg University of Music since 2001 and previously taught at the Augsburg-Nuremberg University of Music starting from 1999.
Born in 1966, Pichl studied in Würzburg with Chris Beier and completed numerous study stays in the USA. His academic career spans over two decades in German music education institutions.
Professor Pichl's research and performance interests focus on jazz piano techniques, historical development of jazz, and international jazz collaboration. His work bridges traditional jazz forms with contemporary performance practices, emphasizing the global nature of jazz music through his extensive international performance experience.
Throughout his career, Pichl has maintained an active performance schedule while fulfilling his academic responsibilities, demonstrating the integration of practice and pedagogy that characterizes music conservatory education.
Professor Pichl maintains regular consultation hours by appointment at Building am Residenzplatz, Room R 117, where he works with students on both technical and theoretical aspects of jazz performance.
