معرفی
Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Bernhard Middendorf is a University Professor and Head of the Department of Structural Materials and Construction Chemistry at the University of Kassel, Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He serves as Vice Dean and is a member of the Institute for Constructive Civil Engineering (IKI) and the Official Material Testing Office (AMPA). His academic career spans institutions like TU Dortmund and the University of Siegen, where he earned his doctorate in Natural Sciences (Dr. rer. nat.) in 1994.
- Education: Mineralogy, University of Cologne (1983–1989)
Research Interests focus on advanced construction materials, particularly Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC), alkali-activated materials (geopolymers), sustainable building practices, and recycling of industrial by-products (e.g., MSWI ash, calcined clay). His work bridges computational modeling (e.g., MD/KMC simulations of cement hydration), microstructural analysis (μ-CT, fluorescence microscopy), and practical applications like historical restoration and CO2 footprint reduction.
Recent Publications highlight innovations in UHPC rheology, adsorption mechanisms of superplasticizers, and circular construction using recycled materials. He collaborates widely on environmental impact studies and material optimization.
Key Collaborations include partnerships with researchers like Andreas Wetzel, Christian Umbach, and international symposia such as HiPerMat. His leadership in projects like Functional Microfibre-Reinforced UHPC underscores his role in advancing structural engineering materials.
