Xuan Ling is a Research Fellow specializing in Building Materials at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), affiliated with the Built Environment school. Their research focuses on sustainable construction materials, waste valorization, and environmental engineering. Key areas include the development of eco-friendly sealing materials for landfills, advanced cementitious systems, and geopolymer technologies.
Research interests emphasize integrating industrial by-products into construction materials to enhance durability, reduce environmental impact, and improve CO₂ sequestration. Collaborations involve institutions like Euro Trust Management and Ingenieurbüro Kügler. Funding sources include the Materials Innovation Institute (M2i) and the China Scholarship Council.
Recent work highlights include studies on carbonation mechanisms in landfill sealing materials, drying shrinkage in ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC), and the optimization of alkali-activated slag mortars. Over 14 peer-reviewed articles since 2019 reflect a strong focus on material science, environmental applications, and industrial waste utilization.
Grants and collaborations underpin projects addressing sustainable construction challenges. Ongoing efforts explore functionalized geopolymers and novel recycling strategies for industrial residues, contributing to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on climate action and responsible consumption.
