معرفی
Bernhard Krismer is a Researcher at the Department of Microbiology and Infection Medicine within the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Tübingen. He holds a PhD in Microbiology and has a background in Biology, studied in Innsbruck and Tübingen. Since 2008, he has been a key member of Prof. Andreas Peschel's group, focusing on the ecology of Staphylococcus aureus nasal colonization and development of anti-infectives.
- PhD in Microbiology
- Postdoctoral training in Friedrich Götz's Tübingen lab
His research explores Staphylococcal nasal colonization, antimicrobial biosynthesis, and host-microbe interactions, including the role of metabolite profiles, methionine biosynthesis as a drug target, and synthetic nasal media. He investigates microbiome-shaping bacteriocins, lugdunin's immunomodulatory effects, and genetic mechanisms of microbial competition.
Recent publications highlight antimicrobial peptides, gene regulation, and metabolic adaptations in staphylococcal species. His affiliations include the Cluster of Excellence CMFI and the German Center for Infection Research (DZIF), where he contributes to projects targeting hospital-associated and antibiotic-resistant infections. He supervises a research team with PhD students Ahmed MA Elsherbini, Jens Mössner, Lukas Schulze, and Master's student Jenny Weigand.
