Bernd Hanisch

Bernd Hanisch is a Professor at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle (BURG) in the Faculty of Design, holding positions since 2000 including Professor of Digital Prototyping (2000-2005) and Professor of Product Design and Virtual Reality Design (from 2005). He has served as Dean of the Design Faculty, Pro-rector (2000-2006), and remains actively involved in academic initiatives as evidenced by 2025 exhibition schedules.

He completed his foundational education at the University for Industrial Design Halle – Burg Giebichenstein from 1980 to 1985.

His research centers on digital integration in design disciplines, with emphasis on:

• Computer-Aided Design (CAD) systems development
• Digital Prototyping methodologies
• Immersive Virtual Reality applications
• Industrial Product Design innovation
• Computer Art theoretical frameworks

Hanisch received dual recognition in 2000 through the Marianne Brandt Award and Saxony-Anhalt Design Award for his contributions to design education and practice.

Academic leadership defines his career trajectory, having initiated the CAD teaching program in 1992, co-implemented the Multimedia|VR Design course with Prof. Uli Kühnle in 2000, and directed the Digital Prototyping postgraduate program from 1996 to 2005.

Project leadership includes chairing the Computer Art & Design institute (2000-2012) and directing team eceomotion's Urban Concept Car projects „TILT“, „NIOS“, and „zeroX“, alongside the HALLE digital VR initiative and XXL Industrial Design projects.
