Bernadette Campbell is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Carleton University, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University. Her research focuses on three core areas: careers and early career transitions, work-life interface dynamics, and program evaluation methodologies. She advises graduate students on thesis projects related to career anxiety, occupational engagement, and work-life balance.
Her work explores how chance events and proactive strategies influence career success, and investigates the role of adult friendships as stress buffers in work-family conflicts. Program evaluation research emphasizes improving organizational practices through understanding social processes in evaluation contexts. Recent collaborations include studies on mid-career worker satisfaction and first-year university adjustment.
Dr. Campbell's publications span career development, program evaluation theory, and work-life balance. She has presented at conferences such as the Canadian Psychological Association and the Work and Family Research Network. Her lab group actively engages in empirical studies addressing contemporary challenges in career transitions and organizational effectiveness.
Her academic contributions include co-editing Social Psychology and Evaluation (2011) and advancing descriptive evaluation theory through analogue research approaches. Office located in A517 Loeb Building, Carleton University.
