Berenike Jung is a Lecturer in Film at the University of Southampton, specializing in Global and Transnational Cinema of the Global South, politics of memory, and decolonising film education. Her research explores audiovisual screens as sites of ethical encounter with trauma and violence.

- Former Lecturer positions at King’s College London, University of Tübingen, and University of Groningen
Her work interrogates: ethical/political implications of cinematic violence, decolonising film curricula, and postcinematic aesthetics in TikTok formats. She co-edits the Film Education Journal and organizes research seminars on decolonisation.
Key publications include The Invisibilities of Political Torture (2020) and chapters analyzing Abu Ghraib, Get Out, and TikTok’s affective dimensions. She supervises PhD students in film studies and leads modules on Global Cinemas and Digital Screen Cultures.
