Berend Ivan is a renowned historian specializing in European and Eurasian studies. He served as Distinguished Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Department of History from 1990–2015, and previously held academic roles at Budapest University of Economics, including Professor (1964–1991). His career includes leadership roles such as Director of the Center for European and Eurasian Studies at UCLA (1993–2005) and President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (1985–1990).
