His research focuses on HIV/AIDS prevention, biostatistics, and clinical trials, particularly through his role as lead biostatistician for the Microbicide Trials Network (MTN). He specializes in mathematical modeling of infectious disease transmission and statistical analysis of clinical trial data, contributing to global efforts to combat HIV/SIDA.
Key affiliations include the Centre de Recherches Mathématiques (CRM) and Centre de recherche Azrieli du CHU Sainte-Justine. He teaches courses such as MSO-6075 (Randomized Clinical Trials) across multiple graduate programs, including Public Health and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
His research spans over 20 years, emphasizing microbicide development, vaccine efficacy (e.g., Ebola vaccine trials), and interventions for maternal/child health. He leads or co-leads numerous grants, including studies on pediatric asthma prevention, opioid therapy optimization, and preterm birth prediction. His work integrates biostatistics with clinical and public health challenges.
Benoît advises doctoral students on topics like cytomegalovirus infection and clinical trial methodologies. He collaborates extensively with global networks, including NIH-funded initiatives, and contributes to policy-relevant research addressing health inequities and pandemic responses.
