Benjamin Ross

Dr. Benjamin Ross is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Queensland. His research applies computer-aided drug design and synthetic chemistry to develop novel therapeutics for cancer, viral infections, and neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer's disease.

Research integrates computational approaches with experimental validation using biochemical assays and disease models. Key areas include acetylcholinesterase inhibitors for Alzheimer's, antiviral nanoparticles, amyloid inhibition strategies, and advanced drug delivery systems using functionalized nanomaterials.

Recent publications demonstrate strong trends in nanomedicine (particularly silica-based delivery systems) and computational drug discovery. Later works increasingly focus on translational applications like 3D-printed personalized medicines and plant-derived bioactive compounds.

Dr. Ross teaches undergraduate pharmacy courses including Drug Discovery, Dosage Form Design, and coordinates the research higher degrees program. He currently supervises multiple PhD students working on Alzheimer's therapeutics, antiviral nanoparticles, and computer-aided drug design. His research group collaborates internationally on projects involving enzyme-responsive drug delivery and biomimetic hydrogels.
