Benjamin L Hankin is Professor and Fred and Ruby Kanfer Endowed Professor at the Department of Psychology, College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He holds an affiliate position at the Center for Social & Behavioral Science and serves on editorial boards of leading psychopathology journals.

His research focuses on developmental psychopathology of depression and internalizing disorders in children/adolescents, examining multi-level risk mechanisms including cognitive, interpersonal, genetic, neural, and stress biology factors. He employs intensive longitudinal designs and translational studies to bridge basic science with evidence-based interventions.
Recent articles explore resilience patterns in youth, neurobiological correlates of emotion regulation, and maternal stress impacts on neonatal development. His work integrates interdisciplinary approaches across psychology, neuroscience, and behavioral endocrinology.
