Benjamin J. Appel

Benjamin J. Appel is Associate Professor at UC San Diego's School of Global Policy and Strategy, researching effectiveness of intergovernmental organizations and international law.

Education includes Ph.D. in Government and Politics from University of Maryland (2012) and B.A. from Mercyhurst College.

Research examines UN Security Council's role in conflict resolution, International Criminal Court's human rights impact, and state repression patterns. Authored work on crisis bargaining and compliance with humanitarian law.

Recipient of NSF grants and teaches courses on international institutions, human rights, and conflict processes.
