Benjamin Gross serves as Professor and Chairperson of the Art + Design Department at Salem State University in Salem, Massachusetts, a position he has held since 1997. He teaches foundational courses in color theory and advanced printmaking techniques including monoprint, screenprinting, and lithography, while overseeing departmental operations from Meier Hall 309.
His academic credentials include a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Delaware and a Master of Fine Arts from Cranbrook Academy of Art. These qualifications underpin his dual role as educator and practicing artist.
Gross specializes in contemporary printmaking with emphasis on technical innovation and visual expression. His artistic research explores layered textures, chromatic relationships, and conceptual depth through traditional print media. As an active member of The Boston Printmakers, he bridges academic instruction with professional studio practice, exhibiting works that investigate perceptual phenomena and material experimentation.
Through courses like ART 501 (Internship in Art) and ART 600H (Honors in Art), Gross mentors emerging artists in professional development and creative research. His daily artistic output is documented at www.benjamingrossart.com, serving as both pedagogical resource and professional portfolio.
