Benjamin De Mesel is an Assistant Professor at the Center for Political Philosophy and Ethics (RIPPLE) within the Higher Institute for Philosophy at KU Leuven. His research focuses on moral philosophy, meta-ethics, metaphilosophy, and the works of Ludwig Wittgenstein and P.F. Strawson. He coordinates an interdisciplinary Metaforum working group on punishment and the ethics of retribution. His academic contributions include studies on moral responsibility, compatibilism, and the application of Wittgensteinian methods to ethical questions. De Mesel also engages in public philosophy through op-eds in Flemish media, addressing topics like punishment ethics and moral dilemmas.
