Benedikt Zott is a clinician scientist at the Department of Neuroradiology and Institute of Neuroscience at Technical University of Munich (TUM). He holds an MD from TUM (2016) and a PhD in neuroscience (2019). As an Albrecht Struppler Clinician Scientist Fellow, he combines clinical radiology training with research focused on Alzheimer’s disease mechanisms and neurovascular coupling. His work identifies β-amyloid-driven neuronal hyperactivity as a critical early pathogenic event and explores therapeutic interventions targeting this pathway.
Research Interests:
- Alzheimer’s pathophysiology and circuit dysfunction
- Neurovascular coupling mechanisms measured via fMRI
- β-Amyloid accumulation and synaptic activity dysregulation
- Translational approaches to neurodegenerative disease therapy
Awards:
- 2021 Trainee Professional Development Award from the Society for Neuroscience
Advising/Grants:
- Supported by the TUM-IAS Albrecht Struppler Fellowship (2021–present)
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams in neuroimaging and neuropharmacology
Labs/Teams:
- Member of the Focus Group 'Neuroglial circuits in health and disease'
- Affiliated with the Institute for Advanced Study (TUM-IAS)
