Benedikt Heid

Dr Benedikt Heid is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Economics and Public Policy at the University of Adelaide, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Economics. He is also an interim Associate Professor at Universitat Jaume I (UJI), Spain, and holds affiliations with the International Economics Institute (IEI) and INTECO. His research focuses on the effects of trade and investment policies, employing econometric and quantitative models to analyze trade, FDI, and employment impacts across nations.

Education: PhD in Economics (summa cum laude) from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (2014). Supervised multiple PhD candidates in international trade, development, and econometrics. Editor for Applied Economic Analysis, Estudios Económicos, and International Economics.

Research emphasizes policy-relevant questions such as tariff impacts and trade agreements. Recent work includes analyzing trade costs, Cold War geopolitical effects, and biodiversity conservation linkages. Funded by the Australian Research Council and the María Zambrano Fellowship (2022-2024).
