Nicolo Tamberi is a Research Fellow in Economics at the University of Sussex Business School, specializing in international trade, foreign direct investment (FDI), and trade policy with a particular focus on Brexit-related economic impacts. He holds a PhD in Economics and an MSc in International Economics from the University of Sussex.
His research emphasizes applying econometric techniques to evaluate policy decisions, particularly in post-Brexit trade dynamics, preferential trade agreements, and FDI behavior under trade uncertainty. Key areas of investigation include rules of origin implementation, TCA (Trade and Cooperation Agreement) utilization, and the economic implications of the UK's trade policy shifts.
Dr. Tamberi has published extensively on Brexit's effects on UK trade geography, FDI responses to policy uncertainty, and the UK's engagement with regional trade agreements like the CPTPP. His work often bridges economic theory with empirical analysis, providing actionable insights for policymakers.
He currently holds a £4M ESRC-funded grant (2022-2026) for the Centre for Inclusive Trade Policy, collaborating on projects assessing trade policy frameworks and their socioeconomic impacts. His consulting and teaching experience complements his academic research in international economics and trade policy.
