Benedetta Brevini

Benedetta Brevini is an Associate Professor of political economy of communication at the University of Sydney and a Visiting Professor at the Department of Media and Communication, London School of Economics (LSE). She holds expertise in climate change communication, AI ethics, platform capitalism, and public service media. Her research bridges environmental sustainability with media systems and digital technologies.

Before academia, she worked as a journalist for CNBC, RAI, and The Guardian in Milan, New York, and London. Her notable works include books like Is AI good for the Planet? (2022) and edited volumes on climate change media and carbon capitalism. She is currently developing a new book on communication systems and the climate emergency.

Proficient in English, Italian, and Spanish, she focuses on media reforms and the intersection of technology with ecological challenges. Her interdisciplinary approach addresses global communication giants' impacts on environmental policies and public discourse.
