Benedetta Brevini

Associate Professor Benedetta Brevini researches the political economy of communication at the University of Sydney, with additional appointments at NYU and LSE. Her interdisciplinary work critically examines intersections between data capitalism, artificial intelligence, and the climate crisis.

Brevini investigates environmental impacts of digital technologies and challenges techno-solutionist narratives in climate policy. Her recent books analyze corporate power in media ecosystems and interrogate AI's ecological costs. Current research deconstructs how platform monopolies influence environmental communication and policy.

She supervises doctoral projects on digital worldbuilding in climate fiction, Chinese supercomputing infrastructure, and green tech discourses. Brevini contributes regularly to international media including The Guardian on issues of digital rights and environmental justice.
