Ben Morrison

Ben Morrison is a Senior Lecturer at Macquarie University’s School of Psychological Sciences and a member of the Performance and Expertise Research Centre. He holds a PhD from MARCS Laboratories (University of Western Sydney, 2010), an MPsych (Organisational), and a BPsych (Honours). As an endorsed Organisational Psychologist, he is affiliated with the Australian Psychological Society and the College of Organisational Psychologists.

Research Interests: Ben’s work focuses on workplace psychology, expertise development, and the impact of emerging technologies. Key areas include cue utilization in cybersecurity, driving, and sports, and barriers to adopting decision support systems. His applied research often occurs in real-world or simulated work environments.

Advising & Grants: Ben supervises students in PhD/Masters/Honours programs on topics like cue utilization in complex environments, skill acquisition, and algorithm aversion. He leads projects on cybersecurity expertise (2023–2025), virtual patient simulations (2024), and situational assessment in power control (2025).

Labs/Teams: He contributes to the Performance and Expertise Research Centre, collaborating on studies involving cognitive task analysis, training design, and incident investigation.
