Ben Matthews is a Research Fellow at the Concrete Structures department within the Built Environment school at Eindhoven University of Technology. His work focuses on structural engineering and material behavior in reinforced concrete and masonry systems.
- Research Interests: Reinforced concrete, induced corrosion, shear behavior, mechanical response, bridge structures, and AI applications in civil engineering.
- Projects: Active member of the ReCreate project (2021–2025) exploring precast concrete structures with reclaimed elements.
- Recent Work: 2025 study on artificial corrosion techniques; 2024 articles on machine learning predictions for corroded beams/piers, and semi-probabilistic design of precast structures.
