Nathalie Reckinger is a Research Assistant and Doctoral Student at the Institute of Structural Engineering, Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering at ETH Zürich. She works under the Chair for Structural Concrete and Bridge Design, focusing on the structural behavior of reinforced concrete elements with localized corrosion damage. Her research involves experimental testing and non-linear finite element analyses to understand the load-bearing behavior of corroded concrete structures.
Reckinger holds an MSc ETH in Civil Engineering from ETH Zürich with a major in Structural and Geotechnical Engineering. Her research interests span structural engineering, reinforced concrete structures, corrosion effects on structural integrity, finite element modeling, and service life prediction of concrete structures. She has developed expertise in experimental methods for studying corrosion in concrete, including distributed fiber optical sensing techniques and advanced structural testing methodologies.
Her recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on the interaction between reinforcement corrosion and structural behavior, with particular attention to locally corroded reinforced concrete structures. Her work combines experimental investigations with sophisticated numerical modeling approaches to develop more accurate assessment methods for existing concrete structures affected by corrosion. This research has significant implications for the maintenance and service life extension of aging infrastructure.
