Dr. Ben Dew is an Associate Professor affiliated with the Research Centre for Arts, Memory and Communities. His scholarship focuses on the intellectual and cultural history of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, with a particular emphasis on historical writing, Enlightenment thought, and the intersections of British-Polish-Russia relations.

- British and American accounts of Poland and Russia (1750–1865)
- Polish émigré discourses on empire (19th–20th centuries)
His work analyzes historical writing, travel literature, and diplomatic records to interrogate conceptualizations of empire, race, and slavery in eastern Europe. Key publications include Commerce, Finance and Statecraft (Manchester University Press, 2018), The Politics of Tea (Pickering and Chatto, 2010), and co-edited volumes on Historical Writing in Britain (Palgrave, 2014) and Polish Culture in Britain (Palgrave, 2023).

He actively mentors postgraduate students in areas including Enlightenment intellectual history, historiography, and cross-cultural encounters between Britain and Eastern Europe.
