Dr. Ben Burnett serves as the 10th President and CEO of William Carey University, assuming office on August 16, 2022. Previously, he was Executive Vice-President and Dean of the School of Education, leading enrollment to 1,800 students while maintaining his role as Professor of Education in the Educational Leadership Department.
His academic credentials include:
- Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from University of Southern Mississippi
- Master's Degree in Music Education from University of Southern Mississippi
- Ph.D. in Educational Administration from University of Southern Mississippi
Dr. Burnett's professional expertise centers on educational leadership systems, with deep specialization in K-12 administration transitions to higher education governance. His research integrates music education pedagogy with institutional leadership frameworks, informed by 28 years of frontline experience in Mississippi's public school system spanning band direction, middle school principalship, and district superintendency.
