Ben A. Rissing is an Associate Professor of Organizational Behavior at Cornell University's ILR School. He holds a doctorate from MIT Sloan School of Management, with master’s degrees from MIT and Duke University, and a bachelor’s from the University of Virginia. His research focuses on regulatory processes affecting immigrant employment, worker mobility, and organizational recruitment systems. Rissing uses large-scale administrative data from governments and corporations to analyze labor market dynamics, offering insights into how regulations shape career trajectories and workforce composition.
His research interests emphasize immigration policy impacts, labor market inequality, and regulatory enforcement mechanisms. Notable studies include analyses of H-1B visa prioritization, employer advocacy in regulatory systems, and the role of social networks in hiring. His work bridges theory and practice, addressing challenges for policymakers, firms, and workers.
Rissing’s recent articles highlight trends in visa processing efficiency, internal mobility retention strategies, and endorsement effects in elite university admissions.
