Belinda Garth is a Senior Research Fellow & Translation Lead at Monash University's Monash Centre for Health Research & Implementation (MCHRI), where she leads the national Advancing Women in Healthcare Leadership initiative since April 2021. Previously, she worked in general practice vocational training (2014–2021), focusing on research, evaluation, and educational development. Her career began as a qualitative research consultant addressing doctor-patient communication and healthcare access. She holds a PhD from La Trobe University (2006), focusing on doctor-parent-child partnerships in pediatric disability care.
Belinda's research spans qualitative methodologies, medical education, public health, and gender equity. Her recent work emphasizes systemic barriers to women's leadership in healthcare, organizational strategies for inclusivity, and rural health initiatives. She collaborates with institutions like the University of Melbourne, University of Sydney, and Charles Drew University (USA). Her projects often combine mixed-methods approaches to address healthcare disparities and professional development.
Key contributions include studies on healthcare leadership equity, general practice supervision frameworks, and bone health initiatives in rural populations. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals on health and gender equality. Belinda actively publishes in peer-reviewed journals and engages with interdisciplinary teams to translate research into policy and practice.
