Bekky O'Neil (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist and part-time Professor of Media Studies at Loyalist College (Belleville), with a sessional role in OCAD University's Experimental Animation program (Toronto). She holds a BFA in Playwrighting and Film Animation from Concordia University, and an Interdisciplinary Masters in Art, Media & Design from OCADU focusing on Animated Documentary and Sustainable Agriculture.
Her creative practice bridges art, ecology, and agriculture. Current projects include:
- Bumblefoot: Twelve Ways to Kill a Duck (graphic novel)
- My Life as a Virtual Companion (mixed-media animated documentary)
- Kiska: The World’s Loneliest Orca (animated documentary in pre-production)
Co-founder of Cardboard Reality Farm & Studio (2015–2024), she explores permaculture solutions alongside artistic collaborations. Former Artistic Director of Quality Slippers Productions (2005–2012), a puppet-theatre company active in Montréal and Toronto.
Funded by Canada Council for the Arts and Ontario Arts Council, her films have screened globally. She actively cultivates biodiversity through regenerative agriculture practices and maintains a studio-farm in Northumberland County, Ontario.
