Behnaz Assadi

Behnaz Assadi is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design at the University of Toronto, and a founding partner of JA Architecture Studio. Her work bridges landscape architecture, ecology, and climate resilience, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches. She holds a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Toronto (2015) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Tehran.

Her research focuses on landscape processes, large-scale ecological systems, and multi-scalar design solutions addressing climate change. At JA Architecture Studio, she integrates architectural iconography and tectonics with landscape and ecological contexts, resulting in award-winning projects such as the Bauhaus Museum in Dessau (2015), Guggenheim Helsinki (2015), and the Kaunas Concert Center (2017). The studio has garnered prestigious recognitions, including Canadian Architects Awards, Progressive Architecture Awards, and the 2022 Design Vanguard distinction.

Behnaz’s teaching and practice emphasize crossing disciplinary boundaries, fostering innovation in both academic and professional realms.
