Begoña Abad Mayor

Dr. Begoña Abad Mayor is a SNSF PRIMA Group Leader in the Department of Physics at the University of Basel, Switzerland. She holds a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship and leads research in phononics and thermal engineering of nanostructured materials. Her work focuses on phonon dynamics in nanoscale systems, with applications in energy and materials science.

Education:

• PhD in Functional Nanostructured Devices for Energy (2011–2016, Complutense University of Madrid)
• Postdoc (Kapteyn-Murnane Group, University of Colorado Boulder, 2016–2019)

Research Interests: Phononics, thermal transport in nanosystems, advanced materials characterization techniques such as coherent extreme UV scatterometry, and semiconductor nanowire engineering. Her group develops phonon-engineered materials for next-generation thermal and electronic devices.
