Bedrettin Yazan

Bedrettin Yazan, Ph.D., is a Professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio's College of Education and Human Development, specializing in the Department of Bicultural-Bilingual Studies. He serves as co-Principal Investigator for Project SELFIES, focusing on language teacher identity development and professional learning in preservice and in-service contexts.

His research centers on identity-oriented pedagogy, using critical autoethnography to explore transnational educator experiences, raciolinguistic ideologies, and translanguaging practices. He has co-edited influential works including Autoethnographies in English Language Teaching (2020) and Language Teacher Identity in TESOL (2020).

Recent publications examine identity tensions, emotional entanglements, and ideological confrontations in international telecollaboration projects between Türkiye and the United States. His work emphasizes teacher agency, well-being, and sociopolitical engagement through autoethnographic methodologies.
