Becky Wagner

Becky Wagner is a climate scientist and atmospheric chemist affiliated with the Leverhulme Centre for Climate Change Mitigation at the University of Sheffield. She works as a Research Associate in the School of Biosciences under Maria Val Martin’s research group.

• Education: PhD in Atmospheric Chemistry (University of York), MChem (University of Leeds)

Her research focuses on evaluating land-based carbon dioxide removal strategies like wetland and peatland restoration using Earth system models. She investigates their environmental, climatic, and atmospheric composition impacts. Previously, her PhD work developed innovative methods to analyze air quality data, particularly quantifying urban vehicular emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

Becky actively engages in science policy and public communication through outreach initiatives. Her work bridges climate modelling, air pollution studies, and sustainability solutions.
