Becky Taylor is a Professorial Research Fellow at the Centre for Teachers and Teaching Research (CTTR) and Academic Head of Engagement and Impact at the Institute of Education (IOE), University College London. Her work bridges research, policy, and practice to advance equity in education. She focuses on attainment grouping, teacher recruitment/retention, and the societal implications of educational practices.
With a PhD in Developmental Psychology from the University of Cambridge and Chartered Psychologist status, Dr. Taylor combines academic rigor with 11 years of secondary school teaching and 15+ years as a primary school governor. She specializes in mixed-methods research addressing systemic inequities in education systems.
Her research interests emphasize social justice, particularly how education policies and practices can reduce disparities. Recent work examines school closures' impact on mathematics learning equity, statistical analysis of attainment grouping effects, and mentorship frameworks for new teachers.
As Academic Head of Engagement and Impact, she oversees research impact initiatives across the IOE. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education) and 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
