Associate Professor Becky Batagol is a socially engaged feminist academic at Monash University's Faculty of Law, specializing in gender-based violence and legal reform. As co-convener of the Monash Law Feminist Legal Studies Group with Associate Professor Janice Richardson, she leads transdisciplinary research tackling global sustainable development and gender challenges. Her current teaching includes LAW4225 Non-adversarial Justice and LAW2111 Constitutional Law.
Becky's research expertise centers around gender and social change, with a focus on family and gender violence, family law and social policy, child protection, non-adversarial justice, and dispute resolution. She has expanded her work to address climate change impacts on vulnerable women through intercultural research in Indonesia and Fiji, contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5 on gender equality.
Her recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on feminist legislative approaches, gender justice, and the intersection of legal processes with gender-based violence. The research shows increasing transdisciplinary collaboration, particularly in climate resilience and gender equality frameworks across international contexts.

Becky has successfully led numerous research projects resulting in law reform and policy change. She has worked part-time since 2010 while serving as primary caregiver for two school-aged children, taking significant maternity leave periods.
Her community engagement includes serving as director at FMC Mediation and Counselling Victoria until 2015, Editor-in-Chief of the Australian Dispute Resolution Research Network blog until 2019, and President of the Australian Dispute Resolution Research Network during 2016-17.
