Dr. Becky Armstrong is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. Her academic journey includes a PhD in Mathematics from The University of Sydney (2016–2019) and a Bachelor of Mathematics Advanced (Honours, Class I) from the University of Wollongong. Her research focuses on operator algebras, particularly twisted C*-algebras associated with groupoids and topological graphs, exploring properties such as simplicity under cohomological twists.
Armstrong has secured significant funding, including the Royal Society of New Zealand's Marsden Fund Fast-Start Grant (2025–2028) and a Simons Visiting Professorship (2023). She has been recognized with awards like the Lift-Off Fellowship (2019) and the Cheryl E. Praeger Travel Award (2018). Her teaching spans Calculus, Linear Algebra, and advanced topics like Hilbert Spaces at Victoria University of Wellington and the University of Sydney.
As a supervisor, she has guided Master’s and Honours students, notably Malcolm Jones (2020) and Phoebe McDougall (2020). Her research contributions are published in top-tier journals, including the Journal of Functional Analysis and the Proceedings of the American Mathematical Society.
