Beatriz Kira

Dr. Beatriz Kira is a Research Fellow in Law & Regulation at the Department of Political Science, University College London (UCL). She is affiliated with the Online Speech Project (OSP), a UKRI-funded initiative examining content moderation governance. Previously, she held a Postdoctoral Research Associate position at the University of Oxford's Blavatnik School of Government and taught Law & Public Policy there. Her research focuses on digital technology governance, particularly regulation of tech giants' economic power via competition law, trade law, and data protection frameworks.

Education: PhD in Economic Law and Political Economy from the University of São Paulo, and MSc in Social Sciences of the Internet from the University of Oxford.

Research interests include digital platform regulation, AI governance, content moderation, and cross-border regulatory challenges. She has advised Brazil's competition authority (CADE) and the Brazilian Institute of Applied Economic Research (IPEA), blending academic rigor with policy practice. Her work addresses global regulatory gaps in digital markets and emerging technologies.

Publications span interdisciplinary journals like Global Policy and Nature Human Behaviour, focusing on antitrust enforcement, pandemic policy responses, and digital trade agreements. Current projects under OSP explore social media content moderation frameworks and their societal impacts.
