Beatriu Escuder is Full Professor of Organic Chemistry at Universitat Jaume I, specializing in supramolecular chemistry and functional materials. She leads the Bioinspired Supramolecular Chemistry and Materials Research Group (RG7) at the Institute of Advanced Materials (INAM), focusing on self-assembled fibrillar networks and supramolecular gels for applications in biomimetic recognition, catalysis, drug delivery, and regenerative medicine.
Her research explores the design of peptide-based soft materials with emphasis on:
- Development of responsive hydrogel systems for controlled drug release
- Biomimetic catalytic platforms using self-assembled molecular networks
- Antimicrobial peptide design and ultrashort self-assembling structures
- Nanocomposite materials for environmental and biomedical applications
Analysis of her 15 most recent publications reveals strong interdisciplinary focus spanning materials chemistry, nanotechnology, and biomedicine. Research trends include advanced characterization of self-assembly mechanisms (particularly Fmoc-modified peptides), development of perovskite-polymer composites for optoelectronics, and rational design of antimicrobial peptide hydrogels. Notable methodological innovations involve microwave-assisted peptide synthesis and hybrid organic-inorganic nanocomposites.
